APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Surface Preparation
Before using Rub Base coat, it is important to ensure that the surface on which it will applied should be clean, dry and free from dust and any loose material. All contaminants such as oil, grease, fungi, stain or any surface laitance must be removed to ensure adequate development of bond when the Rub Base Coat is applied. Timber surfaces to be lightly sanded and then dusted down to remove residues.
Application
Rub Base coat can be applied by brush, roller or spray. When spray applied, the applied coating should be “back rolled” to assist with adhesion. When applying to concrete or other masonry surfaces it may be thinned up to 100% capacity with fresh clean water. The Rub Base Coat will be touch dry in approximately 30 minutes and may be overcoated after 2 hours drying under normal conditions. This can be assessed at the time of application and is influenced by ambient temperature and type of surface treated. For even more lasting protection for the surface, it can be further coated with Rubguard's Rubshield Protective coat or other water based coatings.
Note: do not apply to uncured concrete or while rain threatens, or at temperature below or that may fall below 10C during the drying period. Rub Base Coat is not recommended for surfaces subjected to hydrostatic pressure. When applying to horizontal surfaces it is important that an even film be formed on the substrate to avoid pinholes in the top layers.
